FocusMusic Presents Their Talented Performing Board Members
Hank Dietle's Tavern | 11010 Rockville Pike, Rockville, MD | 8pm

Do you know how hard it is to gather 6 of the hardest-working local singer/songwriters in one place at one time? Between them they've toured hundreds of thousands of miles, won dozens of awards and put in countless hours of work into their local communities supporting the local Washington DC Metropolitan music scene. In a role that is often thankless, FocusMusic has chosen to thank them AGGRESSIVELY with a night letting them all do what they do best! This show has been almost a year in the making and it is with great pride that FocusMusic presents the performing members of our leadership all on one stage! Ross Martin, Emily HallAnnette WasilikGabrielle Zwi and rob Hinkal all as part of a special presentation of the Local Cream songwriter's showcase!

Emily Hall is a songwriter, mindfulness activist, international teacher trainer, and curative arts practitioner from Washington, DC. Imbued with a deep love of global spirituality and the healing arts, her songwriting blends progressive folk with meditative undertones.

rob Hinkal’s "Percussive, rhythmically driven guitar freely composites fingerpicking, classical melodies, running bass lines, harmonics, & hard-charging chords. [rob's] vocals are needled & gaunt, with the jittery energy of a dockyard stray on speed ...”

Over-educated singer-songwriter, Ross Martin, crafts lyrics-forward songs ranging from gut-busting to heart-wrenching — always thought-provoking. His eclectic-acoustic fingerpicking style covers many genres with clear influences from David Wilcox, Peter Meyer, and Ellis Paul.

Gabrielle Zwi is a 22-year-old community organizer, singer-songwriter and Bossa Nova/Jazz performer in the Washington, DC area.

Annette Wasilik has been writing songs ‘from the heart and back again” ever since she found a Sears Silvertone abandoned in a tin wardrobe in the basement when she was 14. Her debut album, Songs from the Talking House won Contemporary Folk Recording of the Year from The Washington Area Music Association in 2016. Her 2020 recording, Love & Fire released at #6 on the FolkDJ chart and #1 on the NACC chart and landed #40 on Folk DJ chart for the year.

Calan
St. Aidan's Episcopal Church | 8531 Riverside Rd., Alexandria, VA | 7pm

Sunday, October 23, 2022
Calan
Tikvat Israel | 2200 Baltimore Rd, Rockville, MD 20851 | 7.30pm

Saturday night will be webcast in addition to "simply" being in-person... if "simply" can EVER be applied to the untraditionally traditional Cymru, Wales-based group Calan. Calan is the only Gwerin (translation: Folk) band to be held in a detainment cell at Chicago’s O’Hare International Airport alongside a death metal band from Estonia. Calan is also the only band of any genre to follow-up that experience by performing alongside Sting at the Royal Albert Hall as part of the 50th birthday celebration of famed opera singer, Sir Bryn Terfel Jones.
