Saturday, Sept. 4, 2021 WFMA and FocusMusic will present one of our favorite duos, Buskin & Batteau - appearing as a trio!

David Buskin & Robin Batteau, with their outstanding percussionist Marshal Rosenberg, have been performing their “irresistible amalgam of melodic, sensual pop, folkie grit and killer wit” (The Washington Post) to critical acclaim and standing o’s for more than forty years. Their songs have been recorded by many great artists, including Judy Collins, Ladysmith Black Mombazo, The Oak Ridge Boys, Peter, Paul & Mary, Johnny Mathis, Tom Rush, Bette Midler, Astrud Gilberto, Anne Murray, Dixie Carter and Roberta Flack.

But they are at their best live, dishing out what Stephen Holden of The New York Times called their “by turns acerbic, funny and plaintive” music and commentary.

And returning as a physical presence from our virtual show with Kipyn Martin : Heather Aubrey Lloyd!

Opening the show will be recovering reporter, performance poet and fairy tale collector turned songwriter, Heather Aubrey Lloyd, who has co-fronted Baltimore’s ilyAIMY for nearly two decades. With its inventive arrangements and delightfully bizarre percussion, her first solo studio effort, A Message in the Mess received the Director's Award for Album of the Year from the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest, and the awards haven't stopped since: 2018 No Depression Magazine Songwriting Award Finalist, 2018 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival MOST WANTED Artist, 2018 National Women's Music Festival Emerging Artist, 2017 Telluride Troubadour Top 4. She is also the reigning Grand Prize winner of the prestigious Bernard Ebb Songwriting Award.

This concert will be held at the Bender JCC of Greater Washington in Rockville, MD.  You can find all the concert details here.
